why we have to wait till 6k rpm?
this sounds like a dumb question, but i honestly want to know the technical answer. the car accelerates so well after 6k. why can't it accelerate like that from the beginning?

Cams work well over a certain RPM range of an engine. The cams engaged during VTEC work great from 6-9k RPM on the F20c. They wouldn't work well at all from, say 2k-4k RPM, since that isn't where they are designed to make maximum power.
Plus, the car has a small engine that is designed to rev. No matter what you do, you aren't going to be able to make much power down low. Since HP is a function of RPM and torque, the best bet is to run the engine as high in the RPM range as possible while maintaining torque. That is how it can make power.

no other sports car maker cares about fuel economy, ie m5 getting 9 mpg, ferrari as well, etc.
what i mean to say is if we dont care at all about fuel economy, can we full out vtec accelerate from the bottom up?
would changing the cams allow for a wider vtec range?

^^i think you would then have to change cams. There are cams called "vtech killer". Those cams eliminate the vtech and its like vtech is on all the time, but even still...with a redline of 8 and 9k, i doubt you will get the same power at low end than you do at high rpm. as stated above, the engine is designed for high rpms.
besides...hitting vtech is AWESOME.
