Why spend the money on exhaust?
#21
Your spoiler is butt-ugly and doesn't add downforce (sorry to break it to ya).
Any one component (stock or aftermarket) can not be ideal for everyone. Everyone has different criteria for said component. Where the stock exhaust may be ideal for you, it is not for all of us. I wanted something that was louder, had a nice deep tone, lost a bit of weight, gave a few extra ponies, and looked good. I chose the Spugen dual, and the for $400 I paid I think it was a great deal. For other people a lightweight single exhaust that is loud as hell is perfect for them and exactly what they want out of the car.
Thank you for joining and supporting our board, but at this point you have a while ahead of you before anyone cares what you think. You will only elongate that period by alienating "us" as a whole.

As S2kracka indicated, there are only 4 reasons for installing an aftermarket exhaust:
Add power
Reduce weight
Improve the sound
Improve the appearance
I always figured if you can accomplish at least three of those things, you're doing pretty well. Whether the improvements are worth the $600, $800, $1,000, or $1,500 you have to spend for an S2000 exhaust is a matter of personal opinion.
Flaming other owners for their personal opinions is not a good way to make friends on your 5th day at s2ki.com.

Because an exhaust is not the only mod we do...a good intake header exhaust combo and gears make this car a whole different animal.
No-one says that just the exhaust makes a big difference, we do not drive EVOs here

I must point out also, when I had my 02 GTi 1.8t, first thing I changed on the car was the exhaust system. Went from stock to GHL turboback. My S2000 is completely stock. Well, except, I have spent more money on drivers events. So go figure. You spend money on something or somewhere....where ever you see deemed reasonable. As long as you are happy about it then who cares?
BTW, I also am satisfied with the stock exhaust on S2000s.

I see you're located in tavis air force base.....typically means you're in the military. I guess you know all about wasting money then...........
Take your "IMO" and shove it. We personalize our cars as we well damn please and your "snooty"ness doesn't add to the enthusiasm of this site, bring any knowledge, or help to the people that own S2000's. We all know that most people who buy an exhaust don't reap huge power gains on the S2000. Hell, by your standards, no one should even buy a S2000 in the first place b/c it is not a true dual exhaust system! OMG, the bastards who designed two outlets for one bank of cylinders!
Next time, firgure out how much it cost to buy a wing painted and mounted, buy a lip painted and mounted, and spend a day off painting calipers and see if it doesn't add up to $1,000. And you didn't even add any power. Made it look better? maybe. personalized it? YES. But I don't give two shits whether or not the other 25,000 members waste their time doing the same mods you did.
Why don't you go "mod" your life and find better shit to rant about, like how does Donald Rumsfeld still have a job, how is it possible that children 10 miles away from you go to bed hungry, or that Exxon posted the biggest profit in history last fall.
And P.S................**** YOU!

well this thread certainly went south REAL quick!
I actually think the OP had a valid question - I dont think he was flaming anyone for their choices, just trying to understand why those choices are made.
to the OP: you have to realize that basically any "performance" mod for the S2000 is going to be a poor financial decision when compared to other cars. Honda just engineered the car to the best of their ability to begin with.
That said...everyone has their own reasons for how they mod their car - i know I do.
Im gonna close this down before it gets any worse. Thanks for asking the Q tho!
