My sister just bought a 076spd 350Z grand touring...all i can say is that car is nice to be in a long trip, great sound system and power to get speed up whenever i want to, i only drove it over the weekend and i'm already missing my S, the fun, the top down feeling. In the end, i like both car, but i like being the "special" one on the street. I see about 20 different Z a day on a street driving.

nissan 350z has more interior room than the s2000, more power than the s2000 but it can not match the s2000 for precision engineering and reliability. porsche boxster and bmw z4 also has slightly .05/1 inch more interior space, better paint job and leather materials, ect.. Hence they are in the $45,000 but they can not beat the s2000 for over all value.

In my mind it's impossible to compare the two cars since they clearly are intended for different purposes, as so well articulated in earlier posts. My choice was based on the zen like purity of purpose in the S (drivetrain, suspension, dimensions) balanced with some practical considerations (power windows, A/C etc).

I had driven a G35 automatic (for my gf) a couple of months before test driving the S and the Z (for myself). I was disappointed at how similar the Z felt to the G35. Even with an extra 20 hp and a 6 speed, it felt no faster, nor more precise. It just wasn't exhilerating to drive like the S.
I figured, "Why buy a sports car, if it doesn't drive any differently than any number of normal sedans/coupes on the market?"
Plus, as impractical as it is, the S has always done it for me.

with just about everyone on here.
the S is just more fun to drive. the Z felt very bulky compared to the S. i like the exterior of both cars but the Z's interior is kinda cheap. honda's reliability is another reason..the Z isnt bad in that dept but the S is better. and everyone and their mom has a Z. although i love how the Z and G35 sound..their exhaust is the best. i just think the S is a more put together car.
G35 > 350Z
S > 350Z
my $o.o2

I agree with everyone. The Z has more grunt to it with the V6 but that's the only thing I like about it. The interior was cheaper compared to the S and for some reason I've never liked nissan gearboxes, they just feel less direct and aggressive to me.
But to add to the "battle" here's a faceoff for you. My '03 S vs my friend's '03 Z

Your car's hot.
I thought the Z looked pretty good but wow... the Z looks horrible in that picture for some reason.
to OP;
I guess other guys here pretty much said it all.
I drove the '07 Z for about a week last summer and I really enjoyed it.
If I had both, the Z would be my daily driver and the S would be my weekend toy.
That's how much different they are.

Because buying a Z now will be like buying a Civic in the 90's.
They're everywhere. I want a car that I don't see every other car in the road.
besides, Z's like if s2000 went on a binge and gained 100 pounds. it's got middle-age written all over it.
