i test drove both back to back on a nice saturday...and the S is just a more precise machine. i like the Z but the S shifts so much nicer and it 'feels' like a better car. it feels like its put together better and its more tossable. plus u can really wring it out!!

needless to say i bought the S

The Z is a great car, but its heavy, the coupe doesn't come with a sunroof, and the convertible is ugly.

S wins.

Funny some of the stuff people talk about when comparing cars, interior felt this, interior felt that and rear end looks weird, etc.

There is only one reason why the S is better, its a CONVERTIBLE, the other car is just a momywagon, yeah a nice handling momywagon but just a wagon.

You've got to drive them both...

I like the 350z, I really do. I wouldn't trade my S2000 for one -- but there are many people that will say the exact opposite. I will agree with either party, depending on which day of the week you ask me on

Why? They are two very completely different cars. The 350z is a powerhouse, it feels planted, it has substance. If I were doing a 1500mile trip through some smooth flowing corners, I'd choose the 350z to do it in - it's a fantastic GT car. It can certainly put a huge grin on your face. It's a torque monster... Running it through 2nd gear is just wild, and that exhaust note! oooh!

The S2000 is more of a strung out, you-always-want-to-be-on-the-edge corner carver. It looks fantastic, it's far more "precise" in every single way. It doesn't have "rubbery feeling" inputs like the 350z. I would call it more rewarding to drive, on the balance of things. I prefer it as "my car, to own".

Wildncrazy -- Clutch? Whaat? I had zero problems with the '03 that I had for a day (swapped cars with a friend of dad's for a day). I found the clutch quite heavy, but I had zero problems with it's engagement point. Ten minutes of driving, and it felt right at home.

Article says the S is faster in the corners (where the Z plows like a tricycle) and that the Z is faster on the straights.

The Z has broader market appeal. To me, that says it all.
The S2000 is more of a niche market car, and I happen to be in the target niche. "Better" has nothing to do with it.

Choosing a car to live with is like selecting a spouse. The best choice depends on what you want, and absolute rankings (good, better, best) don't make any sense at all.

same here drove a track edition Z...then went and bought my S right after, no comparsion when it comes to driving experience.

just my .02

the 350z has more torque, more horse power, quicker 0-60, faster 1/4 mile, a much more up to date interior, and even a little more cargo room.

So why do you think the s2000 is the better car ?
Are you having a dilemma as to which car to buy? No offence, I do think the 350Z is superior.

As for me, I bought the S2000 because I wanted to be different. I didn't want to be another 350Z owner on the road. I see plenty of 350Z and not a lot of S2000.

its easy to see why as a convertible its a step up from the 8 ton z convertible.
