Default Why no dealer carwash?

When receiving a new S2000, why is it recommend not to have the dealer wash the car? I know they use Nu-Finish and I have heard that it is a decent soap. Or is it?

Because the porter at your dealership won't (can't) love your car the way you do. I forgot (idiot - stupid - idoiot - stupid) to tell the dealer not to wash mine the last time it was in, and now it has a brand new collection of swirl marks for me to work out... Looks like it's back to Z5 for a few months!

Honestly, it really depends on the dealership, AND the people washing your car. If you remember that they usually wash civics and accords all day, you start to see why they would not give your car the proper attention. On the other hand, if its a good dealership and they do give you VIP treatment, and the car has come back fine everytime, then it may just be fine.

Personally, I like to hand wash my S myself and only treat it to a nice detail by a trusted local shop once a year. No drive throughs or dealer washes for mine.

Thanks for the information, I went ahead and ordered Z1, Z2, Z5, Z6, and ZFX so I can give my new baby a great shine. I guess I should not worry about the tape marks when they take off the film?

I dont mind if the dealer washes it. Yes, there is a risk of the car getting scratched, but you run that risk once you hand over the keys to them for service. I like it because i live in an appartment building where there are no utilities to wash your car, so its a good way to get a free wash. Oh yeah always put that tire dressing stuff on your tires to make that bling bling baller pimp status look
