Why Don't My Dome Lights Work
My dome lights don't work right. Once in a blue moon, when the stars and the moon are properly aligned, the lights will come on after I turn the car off and pull the key out, but they usually turn off after about 10 seconds. They never work when I try to turn them on myself, and do not turn on when I open the door. I have replaced all fuses and bulbs, and as mentioned they do sometimes sporadically come on. Any ideas on how to diagnose?

Mine don't seem to work with the switch in the middle position when I open the door. They're supposed to come on at that point right? They come on when I toggle the switch to the "on" position however.
Sorry, not trying to thread jack, just adding to. Hopefully both our situations can get answered

It's the contacts. Just need to rip the thing apart, clean them up, and slap it all back together.
Is everyone referring to the contacts between the bulb and the dome fixture? Or do I have to pull everything apart and clean something else up. I tried cleaning where the bulbs go with some Simple Green and a sock, but it was dark in my garage, and it was 1230AM. Needless to say, it did not work, not with the button, and not with the door open I am going to try a cue tip and some rubbing alcohol next time
