Why doesnt HONDA up the hp on S2000?

For the same reason they don't put a light over the key, dimming mirror, variable wiper, carpet over the hump, variable audio level control, etc. They don't sell enough to care a damn what you think. It is all about cost.

omg, wht do u expect from a 4-banger?
for ap1s, 2.0for 240hp(jap 250hp), i cant find another one get the same hp per litre besdie the S2000.
Either the benz and bmw, their V6s are only producing 200-250hp in most of their production line.
S2000s are known as handling and fun, not just raw power.
If you polish all the valve, springs, piston, blocks with I/H/E, you may get about 260-270hp, which is same as the first 350z ...so WHT DO YOU STILL WANT FROM HONDA....go invent a new 4-banger that can produce 400 whp lol

Why do you think Honda doesnt up the hp on the s2000?
Do you think its because they think the s2000 cant take more power?
Is the s2000 perfect the way it is? would more hp be more dangerous? would it mess up the perfect balance of the car?

by sprinkling pixie dust on the pistons?
why dont honda just add 50hp to all of their cars?

You guys act like you've never heard of turbo before.
You can get more out of a 4 banger...
Honda should have just given us a turbo instead of the CR. Although I wouldn't have bought it because of my new stance on buying new cars now, it would have been nice to see the car world go bananas over the faster, quicker S2000 (In a straight line anyway).

It's just the money. They cuold easily make more power on the motor by throwing iVTEC on there.

I think the father of our cars Uehara himself, the chief engineer said that there is no way to add more performance to the engine without breaking emissions laws. The engine is pretty much maxed out. Sure, Honda could slap a turbo on it, but Honda loves naturally aspirated engines, so hence, no change all these years.

The answer is in the name! Honda decided to make a one-off roadster for MY2000. They did a better job than they anitcipated, And it ran 3-4 years past what they expected w/ just minor adjustments. Letting the S to just run its course. Nothing extra invested, no loss or major gain in sales! The S is ,what it is, period! And down the line people will long for it again, and hopefuly Honda will have something else up its sleeve!
(oh you might want hold on to your S-Igot a feeling!?!?)
