Ffirst of all you need 2 straps. they are easy to put on. no drilling just cut the old ones and slide them like modifry tells you I got mine from him and they are brilliant.
For the plastic window just get the window protector tube from MUZ. My S2000 is an AP1 and the window is still like new and the top folds down like new too

mine did this sometimes and all i did was just bring it up again a little bit and then put it back down; it usually went all the way down after the 1rst or 2nd try

Elastic straps are a definite problem on older tops and tops that are always left down - you need to replace them to get the top down properly.

On newer cars, its usually a tight top that's still being broken in, and cold weather will effect all tops and how far they drop.

So the window will not scratch and fold down without the bottom face and to face touching. It will also not crach especially in both too cold or too hot weather.
But first remove the scratches with Autoglymn scratch remover.

Mine is a 2006 with 8,500 miles and does it too.

I stop the top 90% into the folding process and hold the top like that for 5 secs. It usually tucks in all the way when I complete folding it.

If it doesn't, I raise it partically up and lower it again and it will go down completely.

Seems to be caused by the fabric not folding in properly.

wow, it seems this should be a recall issue!!! I know I can get a complete new soft top off ebay for $450 only, if it came to that, but hopefully its just the elastic straps.

Hi: Before you try all the straps and stuff, just go to Ace Hardware, or your garage, and get a can of spray lubricant, like a dry silicon or Teflon spray. Locate the major joints in the top mechanism, use some towels to shield the top from overspray and lubricate the joints. You will find that the top will fold easier. I found that the elastic bands were working fine and that the adjustments on the top were fine already after I made sure that the joints weren't binding.

My top was working fine before I read this post. It happened last night.

Put the top down 1/3rd of the way and had to karate chop the plastic window. Anyways, I always wanted to switch to glass, hopefully soon..
