Most groups of young guy friends have a looser they keep around to poke fun at. If you can't look at your group of friends and identify that person, then you're probably it.
kidding, really...
Dish it right back out. Say you don't want the 240 in your garage because you don't want some ancient POS leaking oil everywhere.

there will always be haters; and if you can't handle, why do you own it? There are a million people who would love to trade up for an S. I just got a girl that works at HandR who currently drives an STi and is getting ready to trade for one.

I think it's cool to be the underdog. I've been kicking Porsche butt for seven years. And plenty of other cars besides. My '00 has never been beaten from 60 to 120, even if some cars are faster. Hold it at 7500 rpm (2.0 liter) or 6500 rpm (2.2 liter). Get a jump. I don't care what they're in. Talk about making someone mad!
One of my best buddies has been driving nothing but BMW's for 30 years. M3's, M5's, you name it. I told him if he drove a Mitsu Evo like mine, he'd buy one. He said 'sure.' But I finally got him out there and guess what he bought? I got $150 finders fee for that one.
Then, he was looking for a convertible and I told him he HAD to drive an S2000. He said 'sure'. Last weds he took delivery on a new '07. I got a $100 finders fee from the dealer!
Within reason (up to 100K maybe) I can own anything I want. I've been trying for seven years to find a roadster I like better than the S2000. I've driven every new roadster you can name. None of them come close. May have to get a CR if I want any sort of improvement. We'll see.
But when they knock your S2000, ask them what THEIR redline is? Tell them it has a higher piston speed than a Formula 1 car. Ask them if their car has double wishbones like the S2000 and all serious race cars. Ask them if their engine is completely behind the front axles. Ask them if their car has 50/50 weight distribution. Finally, just let them sit in it. And if that doesn't work, ask them to follow you on a country road and clean their clock. Case closed......
