Why do you buy a 150 mph car?
#1
I do not want this thread to become aggresive, insulting etc.
However, it intrigues me why I am drawn to a car that can 150 mph and not 100.
I do not do high speed runs because I know that the impact on others would be too great if something went wrong (Other road users, family, etc). However, I wish I could I know the rush would be fantastic and it is that which partly draws me to the car.
Often going to a track is not really the answer. Most tracks just do not have the straights for a high speed run and it usually costs a fortune (

I guess man has made cars that go up to 220 MPH and aeroplane can fly too. If cars were limited to 112 MPH I would definitely know which one I would be getting!
Anyway Simon I personally look out for the complete package (0 - 60, mid range acceleration, and handling) all at a budget price. The S2000 certainly provides that!
If cars where limited to 112 MPH I would again look out for the complete package all in an affordable price.
See it's really simple - You buy what U can afford.

Why do I buy books that I don't get around reading? Why do I have a computer that's much faster than I really need? Why should everything I do be completely rational?

I could be wrong, but they do not limit the top speed to 112. They have this annoying beep that comes on at certain speed ~100 (At least that's what I experienced in the GTR few years ago). It's irritating as hell to make you slow down. Maybe our friends in Japan can elaborate on this some more.

Hey all...
Japanese domestic version cars have speed limiters that kick in at 180kph, hence, the ubiquitous HKS Speed Limit Defenser, a speed limit cut device. They also have an annoying alarm at 100kph that doesn't go off until you either a. go under 100kph, or b. yank it out. Option b seems to suit more people over there.
But to the original topic at hand...
I bought the 150mph car because I already have a 190mph car and the 210mph car was too expensive for my blood. If I wanted a 100mph car I would have bought a Civic, and if the bar was lowered to 50mph a Yugo would have sufficed...
Besides- I didn't have a convertible so I thought I should own one before I go whole hog into a Ferrari 360 Spider (in my next life ).

Also ran into Terri the other day, had a great run from 25mph to 65mph against him, south bound on Plum Grove Rd. from Schaumburg Rd. I still have daydreams of running against the infamously modded Nick Wong ITR special.
Anyway back to subject at hand....
I bought this 150mph car for more than what speed it was capable of. 6).I bought it for what the car stood for, 5).where it came from, 4).the beauty and elegance, 3).the "ballsy-ness" of it in stock form, 2).the timing was financially right with the situation that the fiance was going to get a new car, and 1).it was affordable.
