Default Who would win? S2000 Vs....

Hi guys,

I have been wanting an S2000 for some time now but another car has also caught my eye. The Acura CL Type S. The CL TypeS has 260 HP with auto stick while the S2000 has 240 with manual transmission. Which car do you think would win in a flat out race? No cornering...just straight road?

Thanks,
Matt

check the HP/weight ratios...the s2k wins given equal drivers. not to mention the whole RWD launch advantage thing...

I traded in my 2001 Acura CL Type-S for my S2000. I can tell you without a doubt that the S2000 will take the Type-S given equal drivers.

What do you mean equal drivers? The CL is an automatic. It would all depend on how you launch the S2000.

I say equal drivers because like the S2000, the Type-S is not easy to launch. So both drivers being knowledgable in launching the 2 vehicles properly.

How can an automatic with traction control be hard to launch? I've driven one...all you do is stomp on the gas and go.

Well I owned one, and I can tell you that launching with the traction control will get you the slowest times possible for that car. I went to the track numerous times with the vehicle so I know the best way to launch it. The Type-S bogs down easily if you dont launch it properly. The best launch times came when traction control was turned OFF, and I used sportshift. Even then I only got HIGH 14's at best, mostly 15's. My car had intake, exhaust, and it was lowered.

Would have never guessed that...I though that's what all that techno-whatis stuff is for. I'll stick to my S2000. At least then all my hard work gets me sub 6 second 0-60.

Couldn't help but notice your user name. You didn't happen to attend that fine educational institution in Cornwall on Hudson, did you? I'm Class of 73, although I graduated a year early. My real classmates were '74.
