who uses regular dino oil vs synthetic?

The level of clean of my inside valve cover and rocker arms on my Prelude after almost 80,000 miles of synthetic oil use is enough for me to stick with synthetic.
It is so clean it looks like it came off a motor that just rolled off assembly line! Synthetic oil doesn't leave that sap-like residue all over internals like dino oil does.

I would, but I typically hit six months at around 6,000 mi, which is when I choose to change my oil. His statement that oil shouldn't be in the case for 12 months is just wrong. Personal preference is one thing, saying incorrect things as fact is another.
Try reading this link........http://www.carjunky.com/news/motor_oil/mom2.shtml
This covers many things including the fact that petroleum (or Dino) oils are prone to wax crystallization. That wreaks havoc on an engine.

Here's another just for fun......http://carmaintenance.wordpress.com/...e-of-your-car/
Basically it's all stating the same thing. Petroleum oil sitting in a crankcase for a year is so full of contaminants that you would be damaging the engine. Will it run, yes of course it will. Is it causing damage to the engine, of course it is. Again, not to mention the increased damage in cold climates.
Synthetic is better than dino hands down. For general lubricating, longevity, and durability. This can't be refuted.
So I would ask you to please quit spreading harmful advice on this forum. It is never o.k. to leave petroleum oil in a vehicle for a year. It's not o.k. to do it for even 6,000 miles during cold winter months.

I have a schedule but according to the Honda user manual, a year is fine in low milage circumstances.
My schedule is 5-6k for my S using synthetic. For my old Celica, it's once a year.

Syth since I'm turboed.
While using dino oil, once my oil got up to operating temp the pressure would only be 50-60psi on the highway and dropped the hotter it got.
With synth, it always is 80psi+ on the highway which is what the pressure should be in the first place. Plus the synth seems to run slightly cooler as shown with my oil temp gauge.
Overall, synth is the way to go for FI, no question about it.

I use Mobil 1
I guess it can't hurt to use syn oil! I only put on about 5000 miles a year anyway, if not less. So that extra bit of money for the "just in case" factor is a relatively low cost.
