Who "really" paid MSRP?
#11
I was lucky enough to pay MSRP ($32,415) for my first one in Oct. 99'. Not so lucky on the second one, MSRP+forced options ($36,200).
Oh well, I just had to have the yellow one!

Paid $34,165, including mats and wheel locks (not forced options) from Pohanka Honda of Marlow Heights MD. I was a little pissed at first because they had sold 3 cars at MSRP before as an "end of the year" type deal (got mine in Feb), but considering it was the best price within a few hours from home I jumped at it plus it was my first choice color combo (silver/black)

Two weeks before my car showed up(9/17/99), my dealer who "never sells over list", added $2000 to MSRP. I ordered mine the Friday after Thanksgiving 1997. This was my payback after purchasing 4 cars from the dealer. I paid, and will shop elsewhere from now on.

I paid exactly $32,440 on 8/31/00 for red/black #8834 not including sales tax. I didn't have any 'forced options', and the dealer was a pleasure to do business with (I'll be back). Jerry Damson Honda in Florence, Alabama - Joey Gist. I waited almost 3 months after ordering, and 5 people tried to buy it off the lot while I was signing the papers.

I paid $32,400 which was MSRP and in addition I got floor mats and wind screen thrown in as well and (so far) excellent service. I am a long time customer of this dealer and although others may not have gotten the extra goodies they ALL paid MSRP for the 8 that were allocated in 2000 and I think the same policy is in effect for 01's. Their reasoning is that with 2 exceptions most of the buyers are young (average age about 32) and long term these buyers as well as any referalls will probably buy future Hondas from this dealership because they were treated fairly. Already several S2K buyers have returned and purchased other Hondas, as well as other brands this conglomerate offers. They are Union Park Honda in Wilmington, DE, they have been in business for over 50 years and I am happy and proud that I got mine there as well as 7 other Hondas over the years. There are "some honest" dealers out there. [QUOTE]Originally posted by RossoS2K:

We all paid a premium for the car, anywhere from 2,000 to 4,500 over.

Ok, so I see a pattern emerging.
IF you paid MSRP, you
A) were lucky
B) put a deposit in well in advance of purchase
C) waited till time was right..
all of which are good and valid for the person in question.
I have seen some at used auctions going for 29k$ with 10-12,000 miles on them. NOt bad..
I think the extra we pay in the begining will be worth it in 3-4 years when the cars will still be selling for 70-75% of their original sales price. Gotta love hondas!

I paid MSRP for the car. No forced options. Did buy mats and Windscreen at a discount from List. I also bought the car cover a few weeks later and they gave me a discount.
Had to wait to get the car since the dealer is only selling at MSRP.
