Actually, it can get "sidewalk egg frying" hot here too from time to time. My point was that coming out of extreme cold seasons, there are some precautions to take when first operating the soft top. The plastic can crack from being used right after an extended cold fold. The plastic will not suffer the same fate in hot climates.

I had a '99 10th anniversary Miata that came with a hardtop before I got my S and I kept it on most of the time because the car looked so much better with it on. It also stiffened up the chassis, made the car quieter inside and gave better rearward visibility. I'd like to get one for the S also, but I'm leasing it so I'm not sure it'd be worth it. I suppose I could sell it if and when I give the car back to Honda in 3 1/2 more years.

Texas summer = HT on. Texas "winter" = HT off. I'd rather drive with the top down when it's 30-40 deg outside than when it's 95 deg with 90% humidity, excessive perspiration, and the resultant BO.

I put mine on when Daylight Savings Time ends ... Oct 31st

Change your clock ... change your smoke detector battery ... change your top ...

I take it off in the spring when Daylight Saving Time starts ... Apr 1st

Now that I think about it ... I probably use the hardtop more than I use the soft top since the top is always down unless I'm caught in the rain somewhere.

Ditto to what others have said ... it is like having two different cars !!
