Price isn't everything when you are talking numbers.
Oftentimes, a dealer will come down on the price up front and screw you on the trade or the financing.
That being said, I paid 31,500 (cash) for a 7800 mile '01 with cd changer and oem spoiler. (I wanted silverstone)

the dealers still make money off of sticker because of dealer holdback. My S2000 came in 2 weeks before I picked it up but the dealer was desperate to get it off the lot because he was loosing money. I told him he should have sold it to me at sticker. i finally got so desperate to see my car that i ended up driving it home a couple days later.

I know open road honda is selling their blue s2k for msrp.
But i think it's a little bit more since you gotta buy the hardtop.
They ordered it with it.
I don't think they will break it up and sell it since they have not use with a blue top in stock.
At least not in the summer.
The other one they have in stock ( yellow i think ) you don't want.
They want a little too much for it.
Loaded with 18's on it.
I think 38k-39k

Hello All. First time on this forum. Interesting how fast I have decided to seriously think about buying an S2000... all in about 2 days...long story but I'll spare everyone that. That's kinda what brings me here and after seeing this post, I guess I am glad I ended up here before going looking. I was hoping someone here might be able to give me some advice, comments about purchasing an S2000. I am currently living in Hong Kong but I will be relocating in the Fall to Los Angeles for school at UCLA. I have been trying to figure out what car I want to get and I am seriously considering this wonder little roadster. This post has in effect, answered the one big question I had, which was, how big the markup was in California, if any. I guess with that answered, the next part was just deciding on what options I might have. Seeing the post by Ulrich kinda gave me some hope. I have family in Chicago and I could just add shopping for this car to my agenda since I plan to be in Chicago sometime in August anyway. (Ulrich, which dealers do you think are worthwhile to visit?) With all the various people that have bought S2000's recently in California and the Midwest, would you, with MSRP or below in mind, seriously suggest trying to look in Southern California or just go to the Chicagoland area, lets say, and buy one there and have it transported to LA? And also just curious, is August a good or bad time to purchase this car? Will I have any problems finding 2002 models at all? Sorry for my ignorance and lack of knowledge on this topic. Hopefully you will be able to help me change that.
Thanks for the help
