To answar the original ? I had both tranny tsb's done on my 00 ,I was more bothered by the decelleration buz and while they were at it I had the grind fix done .I have been happy with the result! Now the car sounds like a car and not a kitchen appliance. You can find the exact tsb's on this site.

However, having said that, it is quite easy to shift into 1st from a relatively high speed if you double clutch and rev match. I've done it from as fast as 30 MPH but must rev the crap out of it to make it work. I wouldn't recommend it unless you "work up to it" and have a good reason to do it.
To bad there isn't an effective blocker ring for 2nd to safeguard against those pesky 5 - 2 downshifts, huh?

I just thought about something.
Could it have anything to do with having a little downward force while shifting that creates the grinds?
I tend to do that, and even though I just tried both technique today and could find the differences, I was just wondering if it's possible?
Any comments are welcome.
