check some of the threads before about quartemile times. You will find out a guy who has a custom turbo kit. and if you live on the northern east coast of the U.S. you can drive to maryland i think it was and meet that custom turbo specialist. THe price range he said was around 8000-9000 dollars with labor included and at 6psi runs about 330RWHP and he has run it at 10psi running at ~ 400Rwhp using racing gas. If you got money you got lots of decision and already there are people developing turbos for the s2000 and soon maybe a comptech upgrade. But keep in mind the s2000 is not a drag racing car it was never to meant to drag race. Its an auto x car and circuit car so my advice is to get a supra or rx-7. yes and it is very hard to launch a s2000.

Here is what you need to run high 12s:
Installation included.

S2000: $32500
Comptech SC: $5000
KAAZ differential: $2000
ATS Gear reducer to 1.25:1 Final drive: $1000
ACT Clutch and PP: $1000

TOTAL: $41,500

The rest is up to your skill level, a stock SCd car can do high 12s too, however the clutch, half shafts and differential are weak, the weak clutch is installed to protect the diff in fact, also due to the centrifugal blower, it makes launching even harder as it is almost a restriction before 4k RPMS this is why you need the ATS gear set.

You need the KAAZ to withstand the abuse, the ATS set makes your effective final drive 5.15 about, it adds about 8% more torque at the wheels and makes 3-4 RPM launches easy for the half-shafts.

You can do it much cheaper with a SUPRA and i would go the SUPRA route to build a drag car however it will be more original this way and you can win shows if you do some esthetic mods too.

BTW, an SCd car puts out about a trap of 106-110 MPH which is more then enough for high 12s even 12.7 with an excellent driver.

I saw his post and have a REALLY hard time at believing that. 6 psi of boost won't make a cut of 1.7 seconds, especially not from 13.8 to a 12.1.

im not sure though i guess i believe it since the s2000's compresson ratio is already high and that 6psi adds more pressure it might produce better hp figures...hmm i dont know what i just said.

I will not say it is impossible because with good tuning "magic" is possible, however the faster you go, the harder it gets to go faster. If you had a 17.0 second car then 1.7 with 6 psi might be possible, however at 13.8!!!! I would have to see it with my own eyes to believe it. However as i said, it isn't impossible, very hard is the word.

The only thing I don't agree with here is the ATS gear reducer. This is a much bigger PITA to install than a lower final driver, and it is noisier, too.

My advice would be to swap in the KAAZ LSD (1.5 way) and an ATS 4.4:1 final drive gear at the same time, thus you only have to take the diff apart once. I plan on doing this sometime too.

Actually, I'd like to have a car capable of low 13's all motor. There's a lot of cool stuff under development right now for the S2000, and I think the prices of the stuff made in the States will be reasonable.

(I personally think the supercharger is way overpriced for what you get - some brackets, a centrifugal supercharger, some hoses, and some not-so-great fuel enrichment bandaids).

There is better stuff coming down the pipeline.

Makes sense, but I've heard that the reduction gears are very whiny which would really get annoying after a while.

With the lower gears, your rpm would come down anyways, though.

Experimentation is the only way to really tell.

How would they be more whiney??? I dont understand..

Just because your RPMs are higher, and thus your engine makes more noise??

Thanks

Chris
