I will confess....I chose 'all maintenance done by dealership'.
I just bought my S used in sept of 2004 and figured that since i'm young and dont have a house yet, that i'd would learn eventually when I had a garage to myself. I was also scared doing anything myself considering I bought my '03 with only 7k miles AND it is my 'ive officially made it out of college and in the working world' accomplishment AND my first car.
I was smart enough, however, to get a covered, indoor, secured garage across the street from my apt. I have spent some time in there wiping off the rain and staring at the car After reading this post, I realize I need to get off my a$$ and buy a maintenance book.
I recently ran up on a curb after taking a turn too fast and luckily didn't damage anything extensively (slightly chipped right front rim) and had to get a re-alignment. It was coming up on my 3000 mile service and I got a re-alignment and balance and paid $198 (98 for alignment, 40 for oil/fluids, and 50 for balance).
All the manuals I see on ebay are on CD and I like books. Any suggestions? The helm website sold one for $70.
