Daily drove our AP1 from 2003-2007, top down most times except for Winter. One day a co-worker asked, "did you do something different with your hair?"
I hadn't. But then it dawned on me... it was raining and it was one of the few days I had left the top up.... Honda Hair, FTW!
We "retired" it to autocross duty when we moved out of the city in 07. Bought a couple different cars along the way. Was bored and missed DD'ing the S2000.
Recently picked up a CR and enjoying every day with it. It's just so easy and enjoyable to drive!

As I accelerate hard, I get a "kick in the pants" at around 4500 rpm, almost like a turbo boost. In my car, this happens in all situations, except when I accelerate gently through the 4500 area. Its a bone stock S2000. I'm happy to bow down to the S afficionados who know the car inside out. However, can you explain to me what is happening with this "kick in the pants" that I'm feeling?

DD story: drove my car to an interview yesterday. Turns out the place was way the hell back in an industrial park--tons of railroad crossings, loose gravel, pavement that looked like it had been bombed, forklifts buzzing everywhere. I got some weird looks, but the s2k never missed a beat or kissed the ground. I just went reeeaal slow.

I've been DDing mine for about 3 years. 2 years in the midwest (not as flat as you'd think, I lived on a glacial moraine) with an entertaining 15 mile one-way commute. 1 year (so far) in North-East Mississippi with a 12 mile commute through the hills, which is another great drive. I've got 64,500 miles on my 2004, and it's every bit as good as it was on the day that I bought it for $20,000 from Luxury Motors in Chicago.
I will say that having a hard top is very handy during the winter months (even in Mississippi, but especially in Illinois) when you don't really need to put the top down to let the heat out after a day parked in a parking lot.
Our other car is a Chrysler town and country limited, and after a 1000 mile trip to Illinois in both over the last month, I've got to say that the trip is more comfortable in the S2000, which is either a big plus for the Honda, or a major knock on the minivan. For the record, I'm 6'2" and 220lbs, and while I DO NOT fit in a Miata, the S2000 fits me like an old pair of jeans.
The short answer is that it's probably the best car you can get if you don't have the budget or garage space for a "sports car" and a commuter, and the depreciation hit is pretty light. I think mine has depreciated about $4,000 over the 3 years that I've had it, which is better than any of the other cars that I've owned (and it sure beats the crap out of the Chrysler, whach has easily lost $11,000 of $15,000 over about the same period).

I have had my S2000 for almost 7 yrs, and for the first 3 I had another vehicle and drove that one to work. Now though for the last 2 yrs I have driven the S2000 everyday to and from work, since I dont own another car. I am just glad that I dont have a long distance to drive in the bad traffic that we have down here in S florida. I like the S with the 6 speed but my next car I think is going to be an automatic. Clutches in heavy traffic is brutal! Overall though I love driving the S2000 everyday!
