Default Where to get S2000 under MSRP?

I am thinking about trading in my cobra mustang for a S2000. What dealers have you found that will sell under MSRP? What are they willing to sell for? THANKS

Since you didn't get any replies, I guess you got your answer. I've only read where 1 person who got theirs for under MSRP. Some got it at MSRP. Most paid over MSRP. Check the Group Buys and For Sale forum for dealers who post their available S2000's @ MSRP.

Good luck!

If you're going to trade your Cobra in at the dealership, it makes it more difficult to figure out what price you are really getting the S2000 for. It is best to privately sell your car if you can, but it can be a royal pain. If you go in the dealership and demand that they sell you an S2000 for sticker and you have a car to trade, I'd be willing to bet that you will be subjected to a great deal of moaning and groaning about how it can't be done. Then they will say OK, but just for you. Then they will try to rip you off on your Cobra. If you are going to trade in your Cobra, don't let them know about it. Work up all of the numbers and only at the end tell them that you have the Cobra to trade. This way you will hopefully get a true picture of what they are actually giving you for you Cobra.

In answer to your question, I live in Atlanta and have had three dealerships offer me an S2000 at sticker. I'm holding out for a lower price (it may be a while), but I have heard that some have purchased them for a little below sticker. When prices get a little lower, the weather gets colder, and supply gets a little higher, I plan to call all the the salesmen at the dealerships that I have gone to. I will tell them that "I will give X amount for the car" and "the first dealership to take my offer will have my business". I'll wait a week and if there are no takers, then I will call them all again and say that I will give them X+$200 for the car. I will do this until one of them says "Sold". It's a pain to do it this way, but I have found that it is a good way to get the lowest price.

Good Luck,

- Bret

More than a few people on this message board has paid less than MSRP for a new S2000. I paid 31,200 back in Nov 2000 for a model year 2000 silver/black. I am in the NYC area. Mystic, the only suggestion I can offer is to shop around, no different than buying any other car. Call, fax, email as many dealers as you can. Start at your nearest Honda dealer. I did most of my leg work by emailing Honda dealers all over the northeast.

I found two, yes two dealers in Alabama discounting Stooks. They were around $450 below MSRP. They didn't get my business because my local dealer had one become available at MSRP. I would have spent half the the $450 in gas for two cars, hotel, meals for my wife & I. The dealers were Treadwell Honda (Mobile/Steve Bolen) & McConnell Honda (Montgomery/Mr. Atcheson). MSRP should be the most you should pay. DO NOT TRADE YOUR COBRA IN! Sell it first. They'll offer you MSRP or maybe a little lower for the Stook but give you next to nothing for the Stang in trade. Good Luck!
