Where can I buy a "Vodoo" shifter knob?
#21
You guys are good with your answers! Looks like everybody likes the Voodoo (if it is the newer largest model). I think I'll get one. I used to have a '92 Eagle Talon turbo, that had a shifter knob like a tower! And the shifter on this FWD car was pretty "clunky", too. I got a little short ball knob from a car parts store (not even countersunk), and it helped a lot. Took a bit of effort, but it shortened and quickened the shifts.
Now, I want to buy a Voodoo knob as close to the stock fininsh of the stock one on my '01 as possible. Which one of the finishes would that be? Also, I want the shift gate pattern on the knob (which Rick's offers as an option.)
Thanks,
Richard

Anyone using the countersunk Rick's knob with the Richard Paul lever?

Well, maybe. What is its condition? Is it the larger 2" diameter size that Rick's sells now? What finish does it have? Does it have the shift pattern on it?
Thanks,
Richard

Would like to thank all who responded. I ended up buying a new Voodoo knob from Rick's rather than a used one, because I wanted spun aluminum, and my wife wanted the shift gate etching. Ordered it last Friday, and it came Monday (yesterday).
Painted the gate etching and installed it quickly. The first thing I noticed is that the notorious down-shift from 6th to 4th became most easy and intuitive. With the stock knob, this important shift was vague. In fact, this board is filled with reports of owners who accidently got 2nd instead of 4th, and overrevved and ruined their engines! With the stock knob, I always had to make this shift slowly to avoid this as, again, it was vague to me. Now, it's just a "snick."
Can't compare it with the RP mod, which is more extensive, as I've never driven it. But as I understand it, the RP keeps the knob about in its stock position and shortens the throws. I understand that combining a RP with a Voodoo would result in just a bit too little distance between gears for comfort. So it would seem to be an "either/or" proposition. I think the decision depends on ones body size, shape, and proportions. I am rather short. The point of my right shoulder is rather low in the car, and my arms are not long (as a taller person's might be.) So I feel that I need the lower knob afforded by the Voodoo --- and may even lower it a bit more later on. On the other hand, if my body's build were different, the RP might fit better. So, as I've always called the s2k "the car that you wear", the Voodoo made it fit me a little better.
Thanks,
Richard
