When you VTEC, do you hit redline all the time?

I could see the thrill out of peaking redline. However, from what I know atleast with accelerating your HP is in the shape of a bell curve as compared to the RPM. By that I mean when you reach 8300 RPM S2K's hit 240HP after that they start to drop off. In race cars you'll sometimes notice lights that go on as soon as you reach peak HP and RPM. This is so you don't have to look at the dash to know when to shift. Maybe, I'm getting too technical. Does anyone know differently?

I don't think it's faster for us to shift at 8300 rpm versus 9000 rpm. The gear ratios are set so that if you shift at 8300 rpm, you may momentarily fall out of VTEC and to the part of the power band where you won't get as much pull as between 8300 rpm and 9000 rpm.
