when should i do an oil change??
i have read many many many forum threads on this topic....
most have said try to keep the break-in oil as long as possible......
but what if you run your car really hard after the 600 period i mean doing v-tecs time after time a day.
wouldnt that speed up the break-in process?? also wouldn't it be better to put in some new fresh oil??
the only difference that comes to mind b/w the break in oil and the new oil is the high level of moly which is some kind of metal that fills in the wears and solidifys as it ages.... but if you vtec a lot and run your car hard wouldn't it speed up this process of breaking in by wearing out the engine to the point where itll be run like that and that the moly will fill in these wear scars faster???
any ideas or thought on this??

Try doing a search.
But what it really comes down to is this, what state the current oil is in. If it's dark or black, do you think new oil or old oil would be better? Use an oil that has low moly in it, Mobil should be fine.

The manual says to change it at 7,500mi under "Normal" conditions or 3,750 under "Severe" conditions. This includes the first oil change. I always maintain my cars using the severe conditions schedule, so I'll be doing mine when I hit 3,750. I am sure that if it was important to leave the initial oil in for more than 3,750 they would have specified that exception in the manual. I've read that Castrol GTX has a high moly content, so I have used that to top off and will use it for my oil change. Also, if you're going to change to synthetic, be sure to wait until the engine is fully broken-in. I've read that this happens by 7,500 or 12,500 or 15,000 so I'm not sure what the actual point is that it is OK to switch over at. It doesn't matter to me because I'm sticking with dyno oil anyway.

6 months or 3750 miles. my car hit 6 months but only had ~2000 miles so i changed it anyways. the oil was very black and dirty, im glad i changed it out. i also don't vtec my car everytime, maybe once a day or something. now that the first oil change it out of the way, im going to change the oil at 3k miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. i work at the honda dealership and can change my oil with free parts(free castrol gtx, oil filter and washer), so it doesnt matter for me. the f20c needs maximum protection when its at ~9k rpm and hving fresh oil is a great idea.

That bulletin is only for the first oil change which shouldn't happen until 7,500. After that you can change it as often as you want. The first change is the most important with "OUR" engine due to the break-in oil.

Severe conditions are stated in your manual. I think everyone should read it over. It probably doesn't effect most of us unless you drive like a bat outta hell everyday (9,000 rpm) in 110 degree heat. That's mainly for Canadaian owners. They are recommended to follow the severe conditions portion due to colder temps, dusty/de-iced roads, etc.
