When does the cabin filter do its job?

Default When does the cabin filter do its job?

Only while the A/C is on? Only when its on recirculate?

I'd imagine all the time - even when its off since the car has passive venting - doesn't all air entering the cabin first travel through the filter?

I think air passes through it all the time except recirculate.

I meant only when its NOT on recirculate.. I cant see how it would filter the cabin air when set to recirculate

If the fan is running, its drawing air through the filter. Recirculate cuts down outside air flow, but I would guess that even on recirculate, the air goes through the filter.

Make sure to change it every 15k miles.

Yeah, it was the original filter too. I hit 15k after 3.5yrs.

the late xviper says the filter only is in use when on fresh air mode
