Last Feb. I made the decision to buy the little beauty. But first,,, I had to drive from Reno to Sacramento, so I could sit in one. I'm 6'2", and I needed to be sure that the top wouldn't ride on my head. The dealer had 2. A black, and a red. My heart skipped a beat when my son and I walked in the door. I went back and forth to sit in each. I knew at that moment that I was in love. Thank Gawd the top fit over my head!
I went back to MY dealer, and placed my order. Origionally I needed to wait until May of '01 to buy one, but the more I saw the car on the road, the more I had to have one NOW. Mine arrived 11-29-00, and I haven't stopped smiling since then.
OHhappyDay!

On our way to the Cadillac dealer to purchase a Seville we stopped at the Honda dealership. I had heard talk of Honda's new convertable but not researched it at all. They had a white/red on the floor that looked pretty good but just wasn't our color. The salesman said "well we just got in a silver/black that is being preped if you want to see it." That was all it took. My wife and I fell in love with it at that moment. 3 hours later, after letting the saleman screw us in just about every way possible we drove off with huge grins. (not as big as the sales staff, though)
We have never had a car that has given us the hours of enjoyment as this one has. Seems a little strange to say "My wife and I lost our virginity at the same moment at the age of 48."

My dealer (bought 2 Hondas there previously) had a black/red waiting in the showroom for a customer when I casually came by in February.

Two weeks later (March 7), I came by again, and was told the customer hadn't felt comfortable in it, so it was available. Within the next few hours I test drove it, traded my '97 M3 for it, and drove it home

In July or August of '99, Dick showed me a newspaper clipping about the S2000. I'd bought two Preludes from him and he thought I might be interested, but I wasn't. My Prelude satisfied my transportation needs.

In November, 1999, Dick got his first one in, a silver/red. Someone from Minneapolis had put a deposit on it in August, knowing MSRP was a deal. I got to sit in it but not hear it start or see it go. The Minneapolis buyer flat-bedded it back home.

At that time, they had already sold their single MY2001 allotment to Sherry in Gillette, and they thought the MY2000 I had seen was their only MY2000.

In April of '99 Myrna told me their S2000 MY2001 allotment was available again because they had an extra MY2000 arriving in May or June and Sherry was taking that one.

On April 26th, having seen just one and never driven one, I put down $500 on the MY2001. When Sherry's arrived in June, I got to see it unloaded and prepped. By then I had been infused with S2K knowledge via the old board. I got to sit in Sherry's while Myrna drove it from the service garage to the front of the building and I got to photograph it. I offered Valley Motor to drive it to Gillette to delivery it to Sherry but they were not impressed.

Mine arrived about 31 October but I was in Chicago at a medical meeting so I first saw it about 5;30 pm 2 November when I got home from Chicago. I picked it up Saturday afternoon 4 November. I don't think I drove it until after I completed the purchase. I knew I would love it and I did.

Now I think I should buy snow tires just to play in the winter!

I began noticing spy photos of her back in '98. They didn't do much for me, even though she was scantily clad under camouflage covers.

Then in '99 the car mag photos became more enticing, some of them beginnning to get into the center-fold and pin-up category. I began to feel a certain...stirring.

Then one day in October of '99, while waiting for my Prelude to be, uh, serviced, I was told the dealership had it's first S2000 being prepped for her buyer at that very moment. I boldly pushed open the "Employee's Only" door and --- WHEWFFF -- there she was in the flesh. Can you imagine walking in on Carmen Electra being prepped for her photo spread?

Two insensitive brutes were soaping her down, casually wiping her flanks with sudsy sponges. By the time they'd gotten her dry and sparkling, I'd walked around her enough times to admire every angle. One of the guys opened her door invitingly and asked if I'd like to "try her on for size". Gulp.

It felt like the moment at my first high school dance when early-blossoming Mary Catherine asked me to walk her home.

With pounding pulse, I slid into her leathery embrace. Of course, in the few precious seconds of this intimacy, I couldn't have the key to her heart, though I did play with her red button for a moment.

All too soon, I had to interrupt the rapture. With a lingering touch, I reluctantly slipped out and walked away, forcing myself not to look back. I knew I'd never be the same after that sensual experience. Coitus interruptus will do that to you. Obsessive fixation can often result.

By the time the cars were finally in this country I had shopped all over trying to secure a MSRP contract and had been posting on HA.net for six months. I went to a local dealership on the evening of September 21 1999 to see it in person. Very nice red that was already sold, although the salesman said I could come in and talk to the manager about buying one at about $45k. Have not been back to that dealership since.

Got a ride in one a week later at a different dealership, and bought mine in a different city on October 22, 1999.

September 18, 1999. I couldn't go pick mine up in Georgia for several days yet, so I went to the local screwover artists (dealer) and looked, drooled, and became even more impatient to go and get mine! Picked up my red baby on September 25, 1999.

The first one I saw was at Laguna Seca at an
SCCA National race in early July 99.
It was red/black and had dist. tags on it.
I figured the car was being driven by a Honda person or a mag reporter since they weren't for sell yet.
I thought nice car but good luck on trying to find one.
It was also bigger than I had thought it would be.
