Default Wheel Hop

Hi,

I have noticed that my car has a tendency to wheel hop while cornering at low speeds (Such as making a left turn from a stop). What can I do to alleviate this wheel hop? I do not know if the stiff rear swaybar is causing this, or too slow of a rebound???

If any of you racers have an idea, let me know.

Experiment with tire pressures. Your driving style may warrant less or more pressure.

I will give that a shot. Now that you mention it, I remember running my tire pressure pretty low from my last track outing. I think I was running around 30.

Thanks for the help.

Remove your LSD and replace it with an open diff and your problem will be solved.

Open diff eh? What are the costs involved? Would there be an improvement in handling?

Is your current suspension stock?

Describe the "wheel hop". The AP1 has a known issue with bump steer where the tail will jump when cornering on rough surfaces. There is a kit to reduce the problem available in the s2ki marketplace. Also, if your rear shocks are quite old, you will notice under hard slow cornering that the car will rock which might feel like wheel hop.

(BTW, you do know that glagola was being sarcastic...you don't want an open diff)

I know he was being sarcastic, so was I.

I have brand new KW coilovers. I have noticed the wheel hop on asphalt surfaces... It's very annoying and I want to stop it. I will try XViper's advice first. Do you think that removing my rear bar would provide any benefit?

LOL...you never know...especially when the S2ki age is less than 100days.

I am new to S2Ki not new to cars.

I have never run 30 psi on the street until recently.

Full stiff with these coilovers will lead to damaged kidneys very quickly. Funny because I have only experienced the wheel hop on the street. On the track, my car was extremely loose but stuill yielded decent times. I will be tinkering with my suspension settings a bit more at the next autox and perhaps if the increase in tire pressure does not remove the wheel hop, I will adjust the rebound since it is a very simple adjustment.
