Doing something dumb is one thing, and in most cases forgivable. But what pisses me off the most is that some people "accidently" do things, pretend they didn't notice it, and then just run off, sometimes in front of your face. I mean, at least an apology and compensation.

My philosophy is.....

We live in a 'throw away society'. people don't understand what it is to work hard for something. And then cherish what that hard work accomplished....a new car, house etc...
"Oh it's broken...throw it out and buy another"

The majority of people don't respect their own posessions....nevermind someone else's.

It also has a lot to do with ones upbringing. Respect needs to be taught to children then as these children grow up they in turn, teach it to their children and so on.

The problem is respect/disipline is not being taught it is a thing of the past.

I would have done the same thing you did.... if, I found people leaning on my car.

I am afraid that the respect issues will become a whole lot worse than they are now.

In the last few years I've seen changes in the new people being hired at my place of employ. They don't respect people who have been on the job for 10+ years, when they are given advice or told how to do something for their benefit to get the job done easier they don't listen, they think they know it all. It's all very sad to see the way things are changing but that's progress right?

None the less, it is not right to disrespect someones property like that.

Haha, that reminds me...

One time, I dropped my mom off at the front of Wal-Mart then parked to wait for her. While waiting, with the top down and music playing, some lady gets in her Sunfire and WHACKS the side of my car with her door! I turn around as she's stepping in and she notices I'm in the car. (I don't know how she missed me - my top was down and I was blasting some UGK!) Only once she knows I saw it happen does she apologize. So I get out of the car to inspect the damage. Luckily, there's not even the slightest dent, so I tell her it's OK and not to worry about it.

Kinda pissed, I get back into my car as one of my favorite songs start playing (Stick 'Em Up!). After the Sunfire leaves, some weirdo in his Volvo S40 pulls into the spot, and guess what happens when he gets outof his car?

Exactly, he WHACKS my car, just like the Sunfire 3 minutes earlier! Furious, I storm out of the car as the weirdo is trying to flee from the scene. When he sees me, the weirdo apologizes. And again, I inspected for damage, and again, I was lucky. Pffew! I tell the guy it's OK, no harm done; I also tell him what happened right before he pulled in and we both had a laugh... kinda.

People really are stupid.

1 week after I get my car, i go to Ikea to get something for the apartment. i park as far as possibly from civilization and across from a 911 Carrera and a couple spots away from a Mercedes S500. when i get back, i see a station wagon pulling out from the spot next to me... keep in mind this spot is surrounded by a football field radius of empty parking spots aside from the Mercedes, Porsche, and some fixed up Civic that parked nearby later. as the station wagon passes me, i thought about the possibility of a dent on my car so i get out my cell phone to write down plates. station wagon has no plates.....

i get to my car and find a dent on the rear quarter panel. hopped in as fast as i could and tried to find the station wagon, but it was long gone.

lesson?
im destined to have a ding in any nice car i ever will own.

Who are these freaks who ding doors? For as long as I can remember, I don't think I've EVER opened a car door far enough or hard enough to dent the car next to it. I mean, even as a child I never did it because my parents taught me not to. What level of stupidity is required for this to happen? When you think about it, it's really impossible to understand.
