Default What's up with the front lip paint chipping?

I have the OEM front lip and have a lot of small rock chips. Its like the little rocks and chip the paint easily. I didn't have this many chips with the OEM lip on my 99 civic. How many of you have this problem? Do you bother touching it up or just leave it since there will be many more chips to come. I have silverstone by the way, to touch up won't look that great.

i wouldn't bother with touching up. waste of time and it's not going to look much better and it's going to chip again... you're probably going at much faster speeds than with the civic so there's a theory for ya

anyways... just deal with it and get a new lip down the line and put that plastic film stuff on it.. i used stongard on my front bumper and lip and no real worries about the effects of long-term chippage. i had a white s2000 before my silver one with the front oem lip as well... and the lip was showing the obvious effects of 16K miles of use/abuse

same here.

i think the front lip just pick up anything and everything.

and going higher speed helps chipping too.

well, i just thought i would have to live with it ... or just buy another lip spoiler $ 30k service ...

Yea, just get another one every 30k miles, or get the whole front repainted like I did. (I didn't have to pay for it, long story).

I had noticed this kinda of excessive chipping with a fiberglass lip in my old car. Polyurethane made lip holds the paint better and wont' chip as much.

the car is low to the ground and is more prone to chipping than other cars out there.

just a tip - back off the driver in front of you and watch your speeds. =) otherwise, get something like crystalgard/stongard to eliminate chipping.

Just wait till you get 76k miles under your belt. The car will need a front-end repaint. I'm in that predicament right now.
