Default What's the next step up from the S2000

I'm interested in buying a new daily driver in the next 18 months for under 40K. It should be as much fun as the S2000 and be a performance upgrade. I do like the 260HP Audi TT roadster, but that only has 23 more hp yet is well over 40K.

Evo/STI would both be a performance upgrade, but I don't think that the fun factor is there.

And there's no way I'm going to the 350Z. So far, my best option seems to be an upgrade to my current car. For less that 10K I could put wider tires and a comptech Supercharger on my MY06.

So what am I missing?

The s2000 is hard to beat for under 40k.

Add a SC, gears, heated seats, premium sound, and you'll have the next nicest thing to a standard S2000. Or, spend more and get a Boxster S.

Not many cars out there that can even come close to the "fun-factor" of the S.

Um... lotus maybe? but no topdown driving.

What's a Cayman cost? That's probably more like 60k...

G35/37? Used M3 or new 335i? No drop-top (unless M3 convert) but more interior room.

The used car market does open things up a bit. I can get a used Boxster S for the mid 30s or a used M3 sound interesting, even if it is 1000lbs heavier for a convertable.

Has anyone put a supercharger on an 06 yet? What's involved?

You could buy a Pontiac G8 - I don't know if they're available in a manual, but it still has got to be a fun muscle car.
