Whats the general price range for a good paint job

6 grand. you could go cheaper, but do you really want to paint the car without also fixing dents, dings? unless you want a custom color i would just leave it as is.

or try vinyl...

wait it out. you'll find one eventually...but if you really wanted a complete paint job I would say between 6-7k, and the amount of time you'll be waiting could have been used to keep searching for a black one

do DIY wrap. $300 almost any color you want. and you can peel it off if you dont' like it down the road.

for more info, go to M3post.com and search for the dude who did it to his 3series. came out awesome.

Sorry, to get off topic a little... But, what does a OEM paint job usually cost on an OEM unpainted HT?

Wait and find the color you want. the only way to change the color completely is to pull everything under the hood out and have door jams and understide of trunk painted the same. This costs almost double (when you count additional labor involved) over having a car repainted in the same color.
