Default What's everyone's trap speed in the 1/4 mile?

Well... 2nd trip to the drag strip was met with results not worth bragging about...

ran at 25 psi on well used S02's...

ran a 2.2 60 foot... so i know thats where i can improve...

but i had a best trap speed of 94 MPH on 3 runs.. pretty consistent... i thought a stock S should trap about 98-99 MPH

a car should trap around its standard trap speed regardless of the launch/traction off the line... could it be just the 81% Florida humidity and just my (bad) shifting

any ideas?

what is everyone trapping at stock?

It depends a lot on weather/elevation. 99-100 mph traps are more typical to lower elevation/near sea level. 81% humidity definetely hurt your traps. 94 does seem a bit on the low side, what was your 1/8 mile trap?

well, most of Florida is about 5 feet off the sea level

my 1/8 trap was 75 MPH.

94mph is very low. even in 90% humidity and 90 degree days, I would trap about 98-99 stock. i think it's your rowing skills that might need a little work.

the S2000 should trap anywhere between 99-102 in normal conditions.

also, I await a soap box queen to come in and complain about how the S2000 isn't a drag car. never fails.

It's his car and he can do what ever he wants to do with it. Just because the S isn't the best car to drag doesn't mean you can't have fun with it at a strip.

I am by no means an expert or even that experienced with drag racing an S2000, but after 6 or 7 runs I was able to manage a 98.5mph trap and 2.0 60' on a bone stock AP2. I think I can get the trap speed up a little bit from that with better shifting. I don't think I can do more than maybe .1 better on the launch though (without drag radials or slicks).

I would say anything under 95mph at sea level definitely needs improvement.
