What's the deal with the red interiors?
Okay, so I'm looking at buying a 2000-2002MY S2k this summer. I like the silver colors, although I haven't decided what color I want really at all. If I got silver, though, I'd really dig the red interior. I like the red inserts-only of the 05's, but with the other cars it seems to be a crapshoot. The earlier cars seem to all be all-red seats, but there seems to be a mishmash of what years had red carpets versus black carpets.. IMO, the red is better as an accent, all-red seats are pushing it, and the red carpets are a bit gaudy.. but I've seen clean examples where it looks good. So what did they do for what years in terms of red interiors?
thanks!

00 and 01 had red seats, red carpet, and red leather inserts on the doors.
02 and 03 had all red interior.
04 and 05 i'm not sure, i haven't been keeping up with it like i should

On the 04-05s, the red is an insert in the seat and doors so its a black/red combo, but I believe the carpet and console are also red.
What I'd love to do is swap out my black seats / black door inserts for a set of black/red seats and red door inserts but keep the black carpet and console. But if I ever got the money I think I might just get my seats re-upholestered with a black with silver insert / silver door inserts and add heated seats and then get a black/silver steering wheel. But, all of that costs so much $$$ I probably will never end up doing it
Here's a good pic of the 04-05 red/black interior :

Perfect.
Also keep in mind that in '02 there was no Silverstone. Sebring Silver replaced it in '02, and in '03 Silverstone was brought back, and since then BOTH Silvers have been available.
Mine came with the All black interior, and I managed to find all the pieces I wanted (either an OEM piece, or an aftermarket version) to make my car into red/black interior.

My 01 has the red/black interior. Not a big fan of the all red interior, and personally prefer the red/black interior of the 04-05 when compared to the 00-01 red/black.

if you get the 02-03 w/ the all red interior you can break up the monotony with a few simple mods.
1. black console cover
2. black floor mats w/ red piping
3. swap out the center pieces of the door panels w/ a black interior owner - really a simple mod
i love the 00-01 and the 04+ red interiors. i've been hunting for a silverstone/red or a berlina/red to replace my spa.
