My first oil change will be at 7500 miles. I'm currently at 6200, and so far the car has burned 4 full quarts of oil.

Most board members agree and Honda is even now saying wait until 7500 to change the break-in oil. I chickened out and did mine at 3500, car stopped using oil shortly thereafter.

WHAT??? 7500??!! This thing revs to 9 grand (as we all know) thats sounds crazy high to me for break in or regular maintenance. I changed my oil at 2000 miles and every 2000 miles after that religiously. Good lord that sounds like a lot of miles!!

It does seem crazy, and I would probably change at 3000 miles, but since my car has already burned 4 quarts, I'm not that worried. I know it has at least that many quarts of fresh oil, along with the 1 other quart containing what's left of the break-in fluid stuff.

I am taking my car in tomorrow for the oil change (2200 miles), are you all saying they should just top the car off on oil and not replace the oil? Everyone seems to be all over the place on this and on the break-in period.

My dealer told me not to come back until I reach 7500 miles for my first oil change... but under what driving condition???

I was planning to have mine done at 4000...maybe 4500. I currently have 32xx, I do like to rip through the gates redlining it in 1st and 2nd when possible... I do like entering the highway in 3rd hauling ass, but I usually need to slowdown to merge. I figure I need to follow the severe conditions, but I did log about 1500 on the highway during a roadtrip to FL. I figure those 1500 were under normal conditions, even if I did hit 3 digits once in a while.

Thats my justification for thinking about waiting to 4500 before my first change.

I have a question:

How do most people drive their S2K?

Do you redline it in each gear all the time? Do you like to drive around town keeping the rpms above 5K all the time... ie. driving in 2nd at 40mph just for fun... or do most put it in 4th or even 5th at 40mph?

I will be changing my oil at about 4500 miles, I would wait longer, but it will be coming up on one year. Very low miles for a year old car, but I travel too much. My dealer keeps sending the 7500 mile maintence letter. The manual says 7500, one year for normal driving and 3750, 6 monts for severe driving, I think.
