I'd actually be sad because it would confirm rumors that Honda is leaving the sport car market and concentrating with hybrids and alternative fuel cars - most car mags have said so... (...and then they announce the new Civic Si Coupe...)

I hope they still make something fast to drive even if it has a hybrid engine
They've started with the Accord so let's see what else they'd produce!

 

As long as Honda doesn't ask for them all back, I'd be fine with it. At least I'd have a car thats unique, and there won't be more and more of them on the road every year.

 

Life would go on unaffected. After all, there are nearly 50,000 of them on the roads in the U S of A, so parts will be available for several more years - and I intend to keep my S2000 and get several more years of fun and reliable operation out of it. That said, if I knew production were ended, I would stop worrying about when it will end, and instead concentrate on more important matters, like:
. Living with a grapefruit sized prostate and a bunch of bad lumbar vertebrae
. Viagra, Cialis, Levitra; which is best?
. Will my oldest son ever get a good steady job?

 

I'm not sure what my reaction would be.

However, I doubt Honda will bleed this car out. It's in too competitive of a market segment to go the way the NSX did. Honda wouldn't let a $32,000 car become completely uncompetitive.

They'll either come out with something better to replace it, or they will stop making it. I hope they come out with something better, of course.

 

Frankly, makes no difference to me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the S and it is the most FUN car to date. I plan on keeping the car for 3 to 5 years and then move on to the next. I would NOT purchase another S2000 unless the hp / torque would be in comparison the the competition in 3 to 5 years. If Honda doesn't produce a substantial roadster when I'm ready, oh well. But for the mean time, I'll simply enjoy the S and worry about tomorrow when it arrives.

 

Start saving for a Porsche Boxster S..... Nice car, but damn overpriced....

 

Oh and you guys are too fixated on horsepower, HP is so 20th century. WEIGHT is where its at in the 21st century. The S2k engine is far from weak. Stick it in a lotus Elise and see what it could do. Advanced composite materials and alloys are the future, not just the retrofit of more cubic inches.

 

If the end of the S2K were announced on Thursday, 16 February 2005, I'd go to work on Friday and edit a couple meeting documents I will have done by then, submit them to my supervisor, have lunch, attend to whatever crises happen on Friday afternoon while trying to avoid anwering the phone after 2:00 pm, probably have a light dinner with my wife on Friday evening before settling in to watch Red Green at 10 pm on the local PBS station.
This is a great car and I love driving it. But it's a car. It will likely end its production run in the not too distant future and will either be replaced by another car in this vein by Honda or not. In the 10 months I've owned the S2K, I think I've become fully addicted to a roadster. When it's time for a new car, I will like seek out another, either another Honda or some other sports car. Life goes on and change is inevitable.

 

Hm, if production were stopped today, that would make the 2005 model pretty rare, with only four months production. And with all the secret upgrades Honda put into the 2005 model, that should push the resale value of my car sky high.

Oops, I'm not supposed to talk about the secret upgrades ... forget I told you!
