I cancelled an order on a 2001 M Coupe to get the S. I haven't looked back. However, I do still pine away for the M Coupe, the 315 pony version as a third car. I love the styling of the car and the performance is in near super-car territory for 1/2 the price. Hey maybe I'll pick one up someday on the used market, they really get hammered on price once they walk off the show-room.

I'm also interested in the RX-8 and the RX-7(when it comes out) as well as the Gen 6 Corvette(still hoping Chevy improves the styling and interior quality).

1) NY auto show - there she was, Silver/Red . . . gotta get me one!

2) Dealer 1-5. B*llSh*t Markup experiences
One Quote: "Yes we have one coming next week; $10,000 over sticker"
Me: "I could buy a Porsche for that"
Dealer: "Why don't you"
THAT WAS JOYCE HONDA IN DOVER NJ - THEY S*CK.

3) Paul Miller Audi. GREAT SALES PEOPLE - very friendly. Test drove a 180hp Quattro TT Coupe. Put a deposit on a 225 hp roadster - guaranteed at sticker price

4) Saw an ad on TV for "online" auto purchasing and they used an S2000 as an "example car". Got a chuckle out of that and then tried it.

5) Got a deal at $2k over sticker (remember back in December 1999) from Paramus Honda

6) No haggle refund from Paul Miller - I would totally buy from those guys if I wanted a Rolls Royce, Audi, Porsche, etc.

7) Picked up my S2000 on January 3, 2000 - smiles ever since.

- Friend has a Stang Cobra - not my cup of tea. Wife hates the M Coupe (that was on my short list). Ferrari 308 - Magnum PI vintage - decided I didn't want to be beholden to a mechanic my entire life.

My S2000 was an impulse buy for me too.
I wasn't in the market for a new car, and didn't need a new car--- but somehow one day I found myself calling every dealer in my state to see if someone would sell an S2000 to me for MSRP... When I called Fred Hughes Honda in Abilene, I immediately sent them my deposit.

Was waiting for an IS300 in manual. A few weeks before it came out, my friend convinced me to go test drive a S2000 with him. I had no interest whatsoever in the S2000, but agreed to go with him so that HE can test drive it. While I was there, the salesman convinced me to test drive it also. Dealer was cool, he let me test drive it all over the city for 30 mins, and I totally fell in love with it... I bought a white one the following day.

I was about to leave a deposit for the 323Ci but another salesman sold it to a buyer 5 minutes before I said, "where do I sign?"

I didn't even consider the S2000 but showed up during my search on the Web. I wanted just b/c the price was right and it's very rare in NYC/NJ.

Thought about getting the Mercedes C320, Lexus IS300 or the Audi TT. I didn't even test drive the others because the S2000 was the car I really wanted. Ordered her and when she arrived in the driveway I couldn't believe I actually had one. Even to this day even if I don't drive her I look out in the garage just to see her. I found her on this site (S2000 Personals) in NY. Girlfriend is jealous of her.

lving here in LA, I always wanted a convertible. I was looking at getting a used RX-7 convertible, but then noticed the S2K. I said to myself that if I could get the car for MSRP when it came out, I'd buy it. Well, I was lucky enough to get MSRP, and the rest is history.

I was over 90% sold on the Lexus IS300 ... until I SAW and SAT and DROVE the S2000 in person. Sure it looks great in those Honda brochures, but once you see it and drive it in person it's like system overload. I knew that this car was for me without any doubt.

I was also looking at the CL-Type S.

I went through a lot of cars...heres the cars I test drove and the reasons I didn't get them.

Acura Integra GSR (No Type R available for a test drive; new model was coming too...RSX)
Subaru Impreza WRX (Loved the car, just had a bad experience with the Sales Manager)
BMW 325 (Not enough Torque)
Audi A4 1.8t (Loved the car...juts got sidetracked by the WRX)
Lexus IS300 (Didn't really like it)
Mazda Miata (To girly for my taste)
Toyota MR2 Spyder (Lost interest)
Ford Mustang GT (Crazy insurance rates)

I have the car now and still test drive cars...

Subaru Impreza WRX (test drove it after I bought the Stook)
Acura RSX
Acura Integra (need a beater to drive)
Honda Civic (need a beater to drive)
VW Golf
