the car i had been set on getting for a while until i discovered the s2k.. was a Camaro SS.. got into drag racing in college.. and decided it was the best bang for the buck.. LS1 engine for 20k less then a vette. but after test driving it.. the interior.. is just too cheap.. too much plastic.. and everything shakes.. not to mention i know from my friends that own f-bodies.. the T-tops tend to leak. and i was set on T-tops.. plus i was use to the handling of my civic.. the SS felt like i was driving a boat. but.. the aceleration was awesome.. hit it on the highway.. one of my friends worked at the dealership and didn't mind if i saw what it could do.
after test driving a s2k i decided it was worth waiting and saving up for a year instead of getting the SS right then. s2k turned and stopped on a dime.. and had plenty of power.. also felt like it was under control and agile at high speed.. also got looks from every single car on the road it was like driving around in a exotic..

I checked out the new M3, excellent car overall ,but ridiculous dealer mark-up! Then the Boxter, very soft powerband not
aggresive enough . The S topped #1 on my list, overall power,
handling,looks and value wise.

Like Elistan, I didn't need a new car, but the S2000 was a must-have! I had a '99 Prelude that I might still have had I not gotten the S2000. I really liked the SLK, but it lacked something... like a decent price. Hard telling... I wasn't the hard-core car nut like I am now prior to the S2000!

I really wanted a 2001 Ford Crown Vic. Then I looked at a Hundai... just kidding. The S2K was a total impulse buy. I am actually a bike guy and was planning on getting an Aprillia MilleR but I already have a couple sport bikes and had never ownwed a really good sports car. I and all of my hardcore sportbike friends think this car is fantastic. I can also now take my wife along for the ride.

I've been driving a CRX-Si since 1990. In late '95 when I saw the first images of the SSX I was hooked but had no idea if HONDA would ever produce it. When the SSM concept came out in '96 I was starting to get encouraged. When the car came to market in 2000 I knew this was my next car. I will place my order in 2/02 for my 2002.
Since I have made a firm plan for the S2000 I have test driven a new BMW Z3 3.0i, a used M Roadster and a used S2000. The price is about right on the Z3 3.0i but I don't like the handling or the look of the car. The M Roadster is a blast to stomp on the gas or the brake, but I still don't like the handling or the look of the car.
As a die-hard HONDA fan, I just could not bring myself to spend this much money on anything other than a HONDA.

Boxter S
Carrera 4
Corvette
BMW M coupe, M roadster
Supra Turbo
Another RX-7 3rd gen.
Saw the s2000 on Conn. Ave in DC as I was picking up some shirts. Called the local dealer, they had two, drove over, checked them out, drove it home either that day or the following, I don't recall...
No regrets here!
