Default at what tread thickness does driving in the rain

I just checked my rear S02's and their at 5/32!

Driving in the rain is dangerous enough on full tread .... how much longer do you think I can go?

long enough to hit a curb sideways..........

Tread depth is only one factor to safety.....speed and experience are others.

I can safely drive on slicks in a torrential downpour.....I just won't break 10 mph......

By the way, that is definitely less fun than it sounds. Particularly above 10mph.

My tires are literally slick on the inside edge and definitely need to be replaced. I am scared to post this, but for some crazy reason, they grip better now (yes, in the rain) than they did when they had more tread. They were wrong from the time I bought the car though, all-season Dunlops. I've tracked em and daily driven em.

I hope people don't take that as advice to drive on bald tires, I just felt very confident in mine after doing a great deal of safe tests with em. They've now been replaced though so I'm ready for spring when the Blizzaks come off.

Change your tires!

anything below 5/32 is considered below average, less than 3/32 and a trip to the tire shop should be scheduled. But every tire is a bit different, especially if you're comparing cars vs. SUVs. A tire gauge is a good investment and costs next to nothing.

I don't know... why don't you ask Lewis Hamilton's pit crew?
