What are these flaps under the front bumper for?

unfortunately, I had to remove my front mug flaps when I installed my pwjdm front carbon underdiffuser. But next time when I do an engine oil change I will try to drill holes into the diffuser to put them on
to be honest, I did not notice any big change by removing the mug flaps off my car. Though, I have gone close to 100mph on private roads to my friend estate. But I also have cr front lip.
