Default What should I get checked out?

I posted this at the end of another thread, but since the topic title was different I don't think anyone looked at my question at the very end.

I'm taking delivery on a MY03 Silverstone in a week or so , and I have the option to take it to a local Honda dealership to get anything I want checked out. I'm also requesting a copy of all the services performed on the car (the previous owner only had service performed by her Honda dealer) so I can see if I need an oil change or LSD fluid changed. Is there anything specific I should have the dealership look at, besides the obvious (accident damage)?

Here is the link to the other thread, sorry for reposting but I didn't know what else to do.

I don't think I'd even bother with the Honda dealer. Take the car to a trusted local independent garage and have them check everything out for you. While there, have all fluids changed regardless of what the previous owner might have told you.
The money saved over the Honda dealer will pay for much of this service.

By a slow leak you mean a slow drain on the battery? Something could be shorted and draining the battery while the car is sitting. The stealership will be able to test the alternator and see if it's ok. If something's draining the battery it could be really hard to find. Is anything electrical messed with? Like did he have a huge stereo or sub or anything? In my experience that seems to be the stuff that drains batteries. Good luck,
JASON

Yea sorry it's a slow drain on the battery. That's what he said the "stealership" is thinking, but they haven't found the exact problem yet...they're going to look into it tomorrow. The previous owner didn't have a stereo as far as I know, the trunk is immaculate and looked untouched, also the stock head unit is still intact (she could've had an aftermarket in there, not sure). I'm hoping that they find the short and fix it....what could cause a short? The car was sitting in his warehouse for 3 weeks...could something have shorted when he jumped the car? I'm just worried about this problem being just the tip of the iceberg...like I said before I'll use this as a bargaining chip to have him inspect the entire car top to bottom. I just hope this isn't a lemon...otherwise I'll be in the market again. But at 18500 miles it seems like the problem is just a coincidence...

Anyhow, thanks for the input everyone ...I'll let you know what they find.

i forgot to mention this before, but after doing some searching here, the MY02+ shift knob came w/a leather insert right? well this is a MY03 and it has the regular all-metal shift knob. was the leather insert an "option" or should i be suspicious? or maybe the previous owner just liked the all-metal more?

After 2001, the metal shift knob was an option, as it also is for the current model year. Does the car have any additional factory add-on's; front lip, side strakes, trunk lid spoiler?

MY03 should be half metal, half leather. It could be a titanium upgrade, which costs about $150 at the dealer. Ask.

ah...i see. i would've thought that the leather insert shift knob would be the option since it is probably more expensive

but no, unfortunately it doesn't have any other factory add-on's...i would have loved to have the oem front lip...not a huge fan of the side strakes though.

thanks for the reply
