Barry,

I just got this in the mail from Honda Care a few days ago. I'm assuming that the prices are from date of purchase, and not an addtional 5 or 6 years from now.

I'm still debating on whether to get it or not. I know that the car has problems, but so far, I've been lucky enough to avoid them. I was talking to RHES2K about the extended warranty and he thinks they're not worth buying. He told me there was only one time that he ever got his money's worth out of the extended warranty. Looks like I only have a month to decide to get this or not. After 2 years, I don't think they offer it anymore.

Mark, are those prices for five and six MORE years of warranty, or for five and six years from date of purchase?

I'm guessing it is from date of purchase.

"Money's worth" might need to be averaged over a group. To me it is the "inusrance against catastrophic loss" that makes me think keeping the car is a safe decision.

I don't want to worry that on 5 November 2003 (the day after my 3 year warranty is up) I'll have a $9,000.00 engine repair pop up.

To me, the warranty is worth it. I've never bought an extended warranty for any other car, by the way. I don't plan to either.

I got my extended warranty from 1source auto warranty. It was a no deductible plan, 10yr/100,000 plan for $1000 bumper to bumper coverage. You can get a $50 deductible plan for $925.

I got the recommendation from "carbuyingtips.com" who highly recommended two companies, Warranty Direct and 1source Auto Warranty. It was a toss up for me.

7yr/100k/$0 for $1105 from my dealer for hondacare... seemed like cheap insurance to me. Plus I get the previously mentioned roadside and loaner car ...
