What to pay for an extended warranty?
What have other S2K owners paid for the extended warranty on an S2000? Was it through Honda, or did you find an aftermarket warranty? For how long/how many miles are you covered?

One of the best I know of is with WarrantyDirect:
http://www.warrantydirect.com
6 Years 100000 Miles $950.00
That's a bumper to bumber with a few exclusions and a $50 deductible. You can go to their site and look over what is and isn't covered.

The Honda warranty has some advantages. First, it has no deductible. Second, for the Honda dealer it works just like the regular Honda warranty. They get approval and payment from Honda just like the 3 year warranty. Third, it adds road service to the 3 year regular warranty as well as the added part. Fourth, it adds guaranteed loaner car to the regular and extended part.
Like cdelena said, you can buy it from any AHM dealer. I think the price is the same during the first six months of ownership and goes up a bit after that. I'm pretty sure you can buy it any time before the 3 year warranty is up.

Funny you should ask. I just got my extended warranty card in the mail. My car is almost 2 years old, so I need to get it before it hits it's 2 years. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it or not, but here are the prices that they quote me.
5 year 60,000 miles - $840.00
6 year 75,000 miles - $1,290.00
6 year 100,000 miles - $1,740.00
5 year 60,000 miles - $840.00
6 year 75,000 miles - $1,290.00

I'm guessing it is from date of purchase.

For what it's worth, I was told by the warranty direct people that you can definitely buy up to and beyond the factory warranty, however the price is not held the same as it is if it is bought early. That is just what they said. So it is possible that buying an extended warranty near the end of 36,000 will not be the same cost as buying it earlier.

I bought it for my S2K.
I always get the extended warranty after have the torque converter go out at 31,200 on a previous car, I made it but by just 800 miles.
It just paid off on my 97 Mustang GT @ 48,000 miles, as I paid $100 (deductible) for $3000 + new transmission!

I got mine from the dealer when I purchased the car - 7 year 100k mile b2b for $1,000. In my case, there are actually 2 warranties, a $300 drivetrain, and the $700 'everything else' coverage. I like the Honda one, because it includes roadside assistance, towing, a loaner car, and no deductible. $1k isn't a bad price - if you've ever had to replace convertible top electronics and bad tops, you'll know it can pay off.
