Anyone knows the name and make of a powdercoat paint that you can use to paint the calipers red? I know that you need some special paint in order to withstand the heat. If you use normal 'car body' paint then it caracks and peels.

search on "calipers" (302 selections) or "calipers +paint" (96 selections) and to find name of paint "powdercoat"
And one does show some of the process. http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...php?threadid=88

Well, here's my diatribe about painting using the Folia Tec paint. Last summer, I painted Scarlet's calipers red. They looked AWESOME...that is, until my next track day and they looked like this!
Well, now that Scarlet is hibernating, I took her calipers off and used a few different products and sanded them to make them look like this, btw, this was NOT easy!! I used a combination of 3M Safest Stripper, BIX Stripper and Xenit...backed up with a spongy block sander...LOTS of work to get that damn Folia Tec off! Oh, and several trips to the car wash to blast the paint off, as well...
Now, they look magnificent. I used the Krylon 1200 degree hi-temp black paint. I thought about leaving them stock, but there were a few spots where I just couldn't get the red off and that would look goofy on the car.
Here's how they look now...
The botton line is that if you track the car, the Folia Tec will likely burn. If you don't, then you will probably be OK. But the first day out, mine scorched at all four corners...
Jason S. and I are going to put Scarlet's calipers back on tonight. I just finished the job last night...I'm also putting the stainless steel lines on. Pics to follow!

Greg did you go out to the track the day after you painted your calipers or did you let it settle for a week or two (I am not a painting expert but maybe that would make a difference?)...
I dunno..
Or maybe I will drop 3 grand for a brembo conversion!!! nice red calipers

I don't recall exactly how much time passed between the day that I painted them and that next track day, but it was at LEAST several days. The Folia Tec has a hardening agent in it that it does dry faily quickly, but I don't know if there is a time that it needs to 'cure' ... either way, I wouldn't do it again! What a major pain in the arse!

I also have the Folia Tec Brake paint on my S2K. They look really good and I am happy with the results. Will wait and see in two weeks what happens when I goto the track....hope they will not turn out like Scarlet's calipers. Will update you later.
