lol

I usually get whatever synthetic oil is on sale at the local Canadian Tire. I have a few jugs of the Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic that I picked up for 33CAD/5L. My personal rule is to change every 5000km and only use OEM filter.
I really don't think the brand will matter terribly much if you are changing it frequently... as long as you aren't going with the absolute cheapest oil you can find. By this i mean, I wouldn't fork over more $$$ to buy something advertised as being the absolute best. You really don't need "the best" because it will make little difference in our engines under 'normal driving'. If you are road racing your car or you are operating on the limits - sure maybe there is a special formulation that would be better. For regular driving, id say any decent oil will do as long as it meets the recommended spec. I usually go with synthetics or synthetic blends.

Diff oil and tranny oil are a bit different. Since I do them less frequently I'm more selective with what i pick. For the tranny I do Honda MTF and for my diff I picked AMSOIL severegear oil after reading up on these forums.

Diff every 3-5 years, tranny every 2 years and engine oil every spring are what I do with my driving habits and mileage. Of course the more you drive and the harder you drive, you will want to flush them more frequently.
If you have really old tranny or diff oil and you do a fresh fluid change, you will notice less friction. You may not see it performance wise, but i have definitely felt it in terms of shifting smoothness and how the car feels at lower speeds.

These are my experiences but you should read up on the forums to see what others have to say because there is a lot of great input here.

I don't recall any "bad oil" notes here other than the allegation that Mobil1 seems to almost evaporate in some engines although the engines are not harmed by the oil. As @B serious notes the absolute proof that the oil we personally selected is perfect -- and only a fool would use anything else -- 'cuz our engines have never had any problems. I like the color of mine.
