I really enjoyed reading all of the responses on our amazing vehicles. The S2000 left a huge legacy in the sports car market, and with the Honda motor company, with its reliability, driver focus cockpit, value for the money and the performance aspect of the total package; it shows how intriguing this vehicle was for its time. I feel if it wasnt for the NSX and the s2000, honda would just be another car maker that creates nice cars but doesnt have real sporty intentions. With the introduction of the s2000 it made us think of honda being more then a eco or bland car manufacture. It brought the spirit of honda back into play for the enthusiast and created a legacy in the past 20 years of pure honda sports cars. Hopfully honda will return with a sports car soon, and rekindle the passion that most of us feel honda is all about.
Actually, the S2000 was the original concept but it morphed into the NSX as they went for more power.

The S2000 came about due to the goal of producing a vehicle for honda's 50th. The same team who designed and built the NSX had plans in hiding for the S2000. This is also why it was hand built on the same production line as the NSX.

assembled by highly skilled technicians that were I believe hand picked for their professionalism, dedication and skill.
other than that, machines did most of the work except for specific welds, I believe.

As much as that means in a production line. It's no accord line.

Don't forget the Torsen limited slip diff. and the electric power assist steering eliminating the wasteful/ugly pump. Not sure any of this was truly a Honda first.

But then steel has been around for a long time and it takes a bit of genius and passion to make it into something this special.

The S2000 has a fantastic amount of stuff going for it. And only a bit over $30k.
It is a total drivers package. Maybe not a true legacy car but unforgettable none the less.

I should end up on a lot of writers Best Cars of all Time lists.

I think the Legacy will be how this car is more like an affordable 4 cyl Ferrari!
The recipe seemed to be :
1. Add one part Honda Accord reliability.
2. Add one part Mazda Miata bodystyle.
3. Add one or two parts Honda Formula 1 car .

Take a good read in this post by AquilaEagle from his last visit to the Honda Factory at Suzuka. I have read his post over and over again, I'm sure you will love his post as much as I did.

You can also read the entire topic, it is a great read.

It was fortunate that I was invited together with representatives of each community, but it was so unfortunate that I could not be there to honor Honda's invitation due to other commitments.

I keep banging my head that I missed that, and I was not there with them.
