i could be wrong as i don't have any history or studies with oils on a proffesional level but, i think that an engine running smoother like you guys claims is not only do to the oil but also do to the fact that the engine is getting more miles thus breaking in more and producing HP with less strain. Sure an oil change helps alot but i did my first on my 3rd stook at 5.5k and my second at 4.5k and car is running smoother with both changes being honda orig equip. Wont use synthetic till about 20k or so like my last s2k. Being that is thicker and heavier less flow on a still breaking in engine. Even at 21k on my 01 i noticed power gains and smoothness with org oil. Please correct me!

I've tried Mobil 1, Castrol, and Redline (all 10W30 synthetic) and don't notice too much of a difference. I'm running Redline right now, and the engine seems to rev marginally smoother, but the difference is small enough that it could well be my imagination.

I have never noticed a difference in feel, but i have pulled an engine down and inspected it. The differences are noticed by the engine.
In cars driven in very cold climates, you can feel the difference, esp on old-fashioned 4WD vehicles. The difference in drag from thick gear oil is noticeable when syn gear oils are used, and they lubricate almost immediately.

I've always wondered if Astroglide would work well in the S2k... I mean it was meant to be used for high-revving applications and since the S2000 is a rev-happy car, wouldn't it work in there also?
Just a thought.

BTW, here is some auto journalist/SAE/oil pro insider info: BOAR MUCOUS! Hard to collect, though.

What's your take on this "special" Honda "break-in oil? Is it "special"?
I've always been very skeptical about it and have always considered that the high moly content can be attributed to the assembly lube. If you really want to duplicate the break-in oil, maybe just squeeze a 1/3 tube of assembly lube into the fill hole and let 'er mix around.
In your opinion, do you think that moly, in that "diluted" state actually does anything?
With your background, I think we can put this thing to rest once and for all.

I am currently using oil extreme - www.oilextreme.com. Does anyone have experience with this oil? The Dynos look okay and Nemechek is certainly doing okay on the circuit.
