Mobil 1 Synthetic has always been good enough for all of my cars. It has good qualities, and a good price. I can't see myself paying any more than ~$4.00 a quart, especially because I change my oil religiously.
Raining outside? So what? Change the oil.
Snowing outside? So what? Change the oil.
etc....

I changed from the original factory oil at 8000 miles then switched to Royal Purple. I am used to using Mobil 1 in other cars but I went for it based on a Honda mechanic's recommendation. I use it in the crankcase and diff.
It's true that the initial cost is pricey but I got my money back after 2 tank fulls. First tank I recorded an increase of 2 MPG while driving in a normal manner. 2nd tank fill gained 3 average MPG driving no different from the 1st time.
I haven't run across any dynos and such to prove anything regarding power but I did notice the sound at idle is different when it's warm compared to when I still had my factory oil before my first oil change.

I changed my oil for the first time this past weekend. I got the car from Carmax and I know they changed the oil but I'm sure they used the cheapest oil they could get. I replaced the piece of crap NAPA filter with a K&N and filled it up with Mobil 1. It feels like a totally different car....much smoother.

You should only use Mobil 1, Royal Purple, etc..... that good full synthetic expensive stuff in your S. I use the Honda filter.
This car revs to 9000 rpm's so I wouldn't trust or put in anything but the best.
