Yes. I know that Vettes come with Mobile 1 as the original oil and their engines are just plain push rod types and Mobile 1 is what owners are supposed to use. None of those other cars have an engine like the F20C. It has special ceramic cylinder sleeves.

What exactly does a push rod engine design and a F20C engine have in common when it comes to usiing synthetic oil? I'm lost here. A push rod V8 ...or other push rod designs(Harley) uses a rod to activate the valves, usually via rocker arm(s) . . . so what am I missing?? If you throw into the mix, hydraulic lifters, then I'm WAYYYYY out there in right field.

Every enthusiast automobile site on the planet has this thread active at least once or twice a month. Using Castrol GTX 10W-30 isn't going to "harm" your engine anymore than using Mobil One 10W-30 synthetic is going to "help" it.
Driving conditions and environment should have a bit of input as to what motor oil you select and the intervals of change. I did not wait until 10K to switch to synthetic because my car would be, according to Honda, labeled as being operated in the SEVERE condition category (IOW, city driving, lots of short trips). As a result of this, I kept the OEM oil in the car for 5,500 miles, went to Castrol GTX 10W-30 at that point and switched to a lighter 5W-30 Mobil One at 8500 prior to the winter (when I ran the car when there was no snow on the ground). The lighter weight was a much wiser choice than the recommended 10W-30 because for a good deal of the winter, the car was started in temps of -10 below zero.
For the season, I went back to 10W-30 (Castrol Syntec) just a few weeks ago and the car is running strong with really no difference in how VTEC engages. It is still a very fierce transition.
There is no one RIGHT way to administer motor oil to your S2000. A lot of it should be common sense. Waiting until 10K to go synthetic isn't a bad idea, but neither is adding synth at 8K.
There is a lot of margin here so if you're on either side of the "line," relax, keep your intervals constant and enjoy your car. There are plenty of strong-running S2000's running around with Castrol GTX. You don't HAVE to go off searching for Amsoil or Redline (both great synths).

When I picked up my 02 Z28 about two years ago I drove it for the first 500 break-in miles and got the Mobil 1 out of it right away. It's agreed upon at the LS1.com forums just as much as it is here that synthetic is not the route to go until at least the 10-15k mile mark.

I'm running around 2900 miles right now; I've been driving this baby less than two months. Just added about 1/2 quart of Castrol GTX 10W30 (Dino) oil about 2000 miles ago. Haven't burnt any more oil yet (knock on wood). There is a lot written in this forum about which oils to use and when.
