What ground service do you use??
Well, I recently sold something on the marketplace to a guy in Texas. I sent the item about 3 days after he paypaled me the $$$, which was the 23rd. This was via Fedex ground. They told be the package would be in texas by the 28th. Well, its been about 3 weeks now and the package has still not there.
According to Fedex, the package was sent to the wrong destination and then sent back to Cali. To make things worse, Fedex has suspended their refund policy on things sent from December 11th to the 24th. Go figure. Also, the buyer mentioned that if he does not get the goods soon, he wants his money back. What is the normal protocal in this situation??
Have any of you guys had similar experiences??

we use both UPS and fed ex...
have had problems with fed ex (like yours, delivery to wrong address), but in 15 years none with UPS. UPS also gives us a volume discount-
so you can guess that UPS is our primary shipper!

This thread just goes to show that everyone has had different experiences in the past which have shaped their preferences. I would have to go the complete opposite of cdelena with the exception of Airborne Express which I have never used.
I deal in a quite a bit of high end electronics rebuilding vintage equipment and such and I have never had any problems sending anything with USPS or FedEx although with FedEx I prefer the two-day air service over their ground. USPS is great and has never let me down on arrival time nor have they ever broken anything. UPS on the other hand is awful. They are NOT at all what they used to be ten years ago. Put it this way...you can ship anything that is not fragile with any one of these services and it will be fine; however, if you are sending anything breakable, or of high dollar value, I would never go with UPS. They toss packages around in their shipping centers like they are delivering papers out a moving mini-van window. Not good.

UPS for me. Time and again. No problems to date (knock on wood ). I'm sure FedEx does it as well, but I like knowing that I can provide my customer with a tracking number (and that shipment -- and product -- is basically out of my hands at that point). I also appreciate UPS's insurance coverage.
