I stitch with heavy outdoor thread, put some tape on the back side and press in clear silicone aquarium sealant, then coat the outside with a thin layer of black Permatex RTV.

If you really, really want to do it right, get this but this will run about $60. I used this for reattaching pulled away portions of a Zodiac inflatable. (Hypalon) You can find it at some marine repair places. Professional stuff. Once you bond with this, it is not about to come apart. This was designed for the kind of poly vinyl chloride our top is in the family of.

Doesn't work at all? speak for yourself. I've used it for 2 years now to patch a small hole and it's works fine. Same piece currently on for over 9 months, through winter, rain, etc and it's holding up fine. Depends what you're going for though I suppose.. but for a few bucks, it's an easy fix.
