LOL!!!

since I just got the car, some people i show my car to are ecstatic and some are skeptical at buying a used car

What do you guys tell these people to validate your purchase and decision of owning an S2000 !?!?

For me I start off with...

Its a Collector Car Now!

It has the 2nd Highest Horsepower per Liter Output in the World, Just barely beaten out by the Ferrari 458!

Its a good looking and great handling car!

I Always wanted a S2000!

 

Also I rev the engine almost to redline at a neutral parked position

everyone is so surprised at the great engine and exhaust sound!!!

and I show off the engine bay with the red top engine cover

I tell everyone is F1 Inspired!

 

I am not 13, I don't brag.

 

you guys are taking it too serious, brag is when I meant someone comes over and wants to see my car type of brag...

For Example my aunt and my uncle come over and they question why I would by a used car

 

I tell them it's a reliable car.

 

I offer a brief ride and that's all it takes to convince someone of how visceral the feeling is when accelerating and turning an S2000.

 

A lot of people think it's SUPER expensive lol. I don't brag about it or try to show it off. Would just answer questions if anyone asked - nothing more. Drove it to work for 4 months before coworkers realized it was mine haha

 

I don't brag about my car, but when I'm asked about it I like to mention that it held the record for most HP per liter in an NA production car, until the 458 was released.

 

It is less bragging and more informing others. People think the S is just another Honda or Miata equivalent. Au Contraire..... I say.
I explain the S2k was a direct competitor to the Porsche Boxster, BMW Z4, Audi TT etc and bested them in many car mag comparisons at the time.

I tell them it is "No Compromise" sports car and if convenient, I show them a few of the MANY youtube vids of S2ks keeping up with Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghinis on the Mugello, Imola and Nurburing twisties.

The NSX has an Obvious Super Car look, but in reality, the S2k isn't far behind as far as performance #s if at all....

The main thing I tell people if they ask or dismiss is that $ for $, the S2k is probably the best sports car ever made.... and by sports car, I mean not just horse power but overall balance between handling, braking, acceleration etc.

My boss who is a 50ish year old woman who typically gravitates toward the "more expensive must be better" and enjoys prestige, said to me once that my S2k "wasn't a PorschAAAA" yes Porsch AHHH..... I showed her Car and Driver article with 0-60, lap time, top speed, skidpad and how it bested The Boxster,Z4 etc, and she was surprised.

She wound up buying a 2007 Porsche 911 cuz she hated idea that S2k was better or equal to Boxster and early Cayman performance. LOL
Don't get me wrong, her 911 is a beautiful car, but it is the "obvious choice" for someone who just wants to have a nice sports car...
The S2k is more for people who "Know Sh#$ about cars", the pure driving enthusiast, and those who know how to spend their money right rather than to make an impression.


ANd not to mention that the 2007 Porsche 911 depreciation is far more than our S2ks. As Porsches get older (except for AIr Cooled versions which hold value better), mileage and repair costs go up..... I told her that is why I would never buy a 2002 Boxster. I could have paid less than I did for the s2k but how much on fixing that piece of SH##????? LOL

We have a true, legendary, no compromise sports car.... AND IT IS A FU$$$$## HONDA.... They don't break down... LOL

BTW, MY BOSS....realized all of this when she was at a Diner and in lot were 4 S2000s on trailers on way to track with racing tires etc. She texted me pics of these cars in parking lot and she admitted she just was ignorant about what the S2000 was..... I said yep, "it's no PORSCHAAA"
